Growth Groups
Lawson Road’s Growth Groups meet each Sunday in homes around Rochester for an hour of Bible discussion and fellowship. They provide an informal setting for interested people to mutually develop their own spiritual growth by investigating together what the Bible has to say about a particular subject. A Growth Group is small enough (8-14) people to allow anyone who wishes to participate the freedom to speak within a casual, relaxed atmosphere.
Each group is directed by a leader who has reviewed the weekly passage and is prepared to guide the conversation. The self-discovery discussion format multiplies the benefits of each individual’s own study and experience by giving them an opportunity to share insights or just “listen in” to the conversation.
One goal of these meetings is to allow people to read their Bible for themselves, but not by themselves. Although each group leader utilizes a discussion guide, the Bible is the only text book used in the conversations.
All lessons are self-contained, and require no previous attendance, so anyone can “drop in” to visit any group at any time. Contact the church office for more information or Growth Group times and locations.

Why the name – “GROWTH GROUPS”?
The Lawson Road Growth Groups have that name because it reminds us of the purpose of these meetings. We want and expect to God to use these groups to grow us:
· in numbers;
· in friendship;
· closer to Him.
We study the Bible because we recognize that we lack something and we’re looking for answers. The more time we spend in God’s Word, the more these answers “grow” on us. Over time, when we look back we realize that we’ve “grown” into a new person as our Bible discussions and the encouragement of other group members have altered our attitudes, relationships, and understanding of God.
Can children attend Growth Groups?
All of our groups are ‘kid friendly”. As a guest you will not be expected to assume any responsibilities. However, if you decide to join a Growth Group you will be asked to take a turn caring for any children that might attend. Each host home will provide a room for the children to watch a dvd, read a Bible story, color pictures, or whatever activity you choose. With all the adults taking a turn, the children will have the opportunity to build relationships they ordinarily wouldn’t, and no one is excluded from the Bible discussions.
